What is Tengrism exactly?

ukraine religion

Tengrism is an ancient religion of the Eurasian Steppes that was developed among the Turkic population. It is based on folk shamanism & animism. The central figure of the religion is Tengri, the titular heaven god. While not a true deity in the typical sense, Tengri is seen as the personification of the universe.

Symbols

Tengrism is a symbol system that is based around a three dimensional world where everything can be connected to each other. Tengrism says that everything is bound in a circle, and everything is connected to all other things. For example, the sun and seasons are part of a three-dimensional Earth as is the soul of every creature.

Tengriism was first recorded in Chinese chronicles during the fourth century BC. It was also known under the names Cheng Li, the sky god, and Cheng Li. Guyug Khan (Mongolian khan) referred to Tengri when he wrote a 1246 letter to Pope Innocent IV. He wrote: "Tengri-yin kucundur," which means "under the eternal heaven."

Origin

The ancient Chinese culture of Tengrism is based on a hero named Geser, a reincarnation of the sky spirit who came to earth to serve as a shaman. The Epic of King Gesar is an epic text that tells his life story. The epic was originally meant to be performed by actors who played a horse head fiddle.

The origin of Tengrism is not certain, but it is generally believed to have originated in the early stages of human civilizations. As society developed, the notion of loss-developed human existence became more widespread. This led to society becoming more stratified and tribal elites being formed.

Pratiques

Tengrism, a spiritual tradition, is founded on intimate relationships between the gods. It is not a religion with a holy text, prophet or place of worship. It also does not have any dogma or rites. It differs therefore from orthodox Islam. This is based on Quran and Koran.

The practice of Tengrism has been practiced in the Central Asian region for centuries. It includes elements of animism, shamanism, and polytheism. It is still used in Mongolia, Buryatia (in Turkic languages) and elsewhere. Many of the traditional practices are no long practiced in public. However, some are being revived for their spiritual meaning. Modern Tengrism practices come from a movement that wants to revive the religion and encourage living in harmony and caring for nature.
