Monotheism can be defined as belief in a single God. There are many monotheistic religions. Islam, Judaism Zoroastrianism and Hinduism are just a few of the many monotheistic religious traditions. Each faith and practice is unique. Let's look at the differences among them.
Islam
Islam is a monotheistic religion which emphasizes God's Oneness. Islam teaches that God is the only Creator and the only one deserving of worship. This concept is emphasized throughout the Qur'an. A majority of Qur'an verses emphasize Allah's Oneness.
Christianity, Judaism & Islam are three of the most important monotheistic religious traditions. Abraham is the source of all three traditions. Abraham, the father in Abrahamic religions and the founder of these traditions, was asked to give up his only son. God intervened to save him. He then offered Abraham to sacrifice a ram. In the Bible, the promised messiah is the focus of the Jewish people's hope.
Islam considers worship a vital part of Islam. Worship is much more than just prayers and rituals. We all need to worship God in some way. These activities may include charitable donations or seeking knowledge.
Judaism
Judaism can be described as a monotheistic, ethnic religion that belongs to the Abrahamic family. Its origins are in the Bronze Age of Middle East. It is based in Jewish history and beliefs. It has been a major religion for more than 2 000 years and is still widely practiced around the globe.
Jewish people believe God created everything, and all humans were created in God's image. Judaism teaches that God will judge us at the end of our lives. It differs from other religions in that it follows many traditions and has holidays. Currently, there are 5,000,000 Jews in the United States. There are thousands of synagogues throughout the country. The Jewish people believe in helping other people and making the world a better place.
The Torah portrays polytheism as a wicked and false religion. Deuteronomy32.16-17 reveals that God accuses the Israelites from worshipping false gods. Modern scholarship suggests that polytheism originated in monotheism and is a complex question.
Zoroastrianism
Zoroastrianism, despite being one of the most small religions on the planet, still has an impact on the worldviews of its followers. The teachings of Zoroastrianism include the doctrines of hell, heaven, the Judgment Year, and freewill. It also teaches that angels and demons exist.
Zoroastrians believe in perfection for human souls and can then meditate on their acts in the next life. A good balance of actions and deeds will lead to heaven, while an unhealthy balance will bring you to your death. Zoroastrianism is a religion that encourages moral and good behavior.
Zoroastrianism has been called the oldest religion on the planet. Its adherents were a wealthy minority who believed honesty, respect, education, and justice. They eventually fled to India, where today they are called the Parsis.
