They can also help you realize your dominant feelings and the way you see yourself.

Once you achieve this awareness, it will become easier to notice your thoughts and take corrective measures when necessary. The first step towards true enlightenment is to have the desire to question everything that you see and feel. The tendency for thoughts and feelings to flow unassisted leads to negativity and anger.

Compassion
Spiritual enlightenment through compassion is not just about being nice to other people. Your ability to show compassion makes you happier, more productive and more happy in the world. This is something you might consider if you're not already practicing compassion. This important skill is taught in many secular programs.
Sending and receiving compassion from friends and family, strangers and even yourself is a good place to start. It is also a good idea, to show compassion to people who cause you pain. You can begin by sending compassion to yourself and loved ones, but you should be aware that there are millions of other people who are also suffering.
Awareness of the life force connections
One of the first steps to spiritual awakening is awareness of one's life force connections. It is a powerful process that allows a person to rise above differences and become more aware of who they really are. The life force is not just personal power; it is everywhere and can be found in all things. A person who meditates on this energy feels more powerful, whole, energized, and happier.
The life force gives life to everything. All life forms share the same life force. This force is called unity. Different cultures call it by different names or describe it differently, but it is the same power.

Living in the Present Moment
Living in the present moment can be challenging. Our modern world is full of distractions, and they often pull our attention to the past or the future, rather than the present. It can be difficult to stay present in the moment. There are some ways to anchor yourself in this moment.
Learn to be aware of what is happening in your 'now. This is an essential step towards spiritual awakening. It is easier to shift your focus once you recognize the formless presence in your mind. You will find that your egoic mind has less fuel to run and will have less influence on the world around you.
