Shintoism's most important part is purification. This is why new buildings are blessed before construction begins, and new cars are blessed as they are being assembled. Another common practice involves the purification of water.
It is incompatible with Christianity
Because they have different views about God, Shintoism is incompatible with Christianity. Christian doctrine says that God is the creator of the world and that He is the loving father of all people. Shinto believes that humans are sinful and need salvation.
