Minor concentration in world religions
A minor concentration on world religions will help you prepare for a range of careers including teaching, government service, or professional service in religious institutions. You will be able to understand current events and long-standing ideologic conflicts. You can become a diplomat, lawyer, or missionary by completing a minor in the world religions.
The minor is flexible enough to complement majors in history, philosophy, and political science. Students can choose to take up to five courses depending on their interests. Students interested in studying international studies may find this minor useful. It is also beneficial for graduates who want to go into counseling or the Peace Corps.
Major Requirements
The world religions program enables students to acquire a specific understanding of religions through empirical and theoretical research. They learn about early Christianity, Islam (including Hinduism), Buddhism, Greek and Roman religions, early Christianity and Islam. Students also learn the Greek language. Many majors in world religions may also double majors in English language, history, and sociology. In addition to their religious studies courses students can also complete a departmental Honors thesis in one term.
To graduate with honors in the major, students must complete a thesis in a foreign language and obtain a grade of "C" or higher. Students must also complete two years of a language relevant to their area of interest.
Courses
The major in world religions allows students the opportunity to study the effects of religion on public policy. Students are equipped with the knowledge and tools to critically evaluate the role of religion in human lives, as well as the ability to interact constructively with religious diversity. Students will also examine religion's contribution to American identity as well as the relationship between religions and other aspects in American society.
The World Religions major can choose to study courses in early Christianity, Islam or Hinduism. They can also choose to study sociology, English, or history. A world religions major can also choose to finish a departmental Honors thesis. Students must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher to be eligible for this program.

Not only can they teach a variety of subjects, but they can also find work in many charitable organizations. They can be charity officers and handle donations supplies and provisions. These positions are prestigious and well-paid.
